Blue and Spirit have a baby brother!  A BIG baby brother.(He is only three months old and is getting huge!)  Safari is a Catahoula Leopard Dog and is deaf!  I am sending a picture of him with Santa. Blue has already taught him to use the pet door. He and Blue (who is deaf and blind) are very smart! I would recommend to anyone who loves animals to adopt a deaf dog.  I found Safari on the deaf dog site and adopted him from a breeder in south FL.  He belongs to my children, Arielle and Sierra and my foster son Marlo.

Koji-3legs-rocks.jpg (128074 bytes)Koji

Koji is 10 years old and had her front leg amputated 4 months ago (October 2002) because of a nerve sheath tumor in her brachial plexus. When we first got the terrible news, we weren't sure that putting her through such invasive surgery was the best choice. So I searched the web for information and came to Kissy's story on this website. It was exactly what we needed to read, and it prompted our decision to go ahead with the surgery. We could not be happier with the results. Three weeks after the surgery Koji started to walk again, and now she can run and play just like old times. Best of all, it's the first time she is pain-free in over a year. Thanks to HandicappedPets.com and Kissy, Koji has more time left on this planet and we are all so thankful!

I adopted Blue from Twyla's Friends Rescue and he is a very special member of our family.  He is a lethal white Aussie and is both blind and deaf.  He can see shadows out of one eye in certain lights.  He is very intelligent and living with him is not much different from living with our sighted dogs.  We love him very much and are very grateful to Twyla's Friends and Blue's foster parents for letting us adopt him.  Here is another picture of Blue with our Husky Spirit.

This is Sweet Pea. She was rescued from a mass mailing facility in Compton by a guard who works there. She has a broken spine at L5 that is healing at a 45 degree angle. She has limited use of her hind legs and is incontinent. Aside from radical surgery to re-break and straighten her spine, there is nothing that the vets can do for her. She is a wonderful little girl, and is about 4 months old. I am her foster mom, and rescue for a non-profit cat rescue group called People & Cats Together.

wpe5.jpg (33470 bytes) Fred is a basset 12yrs old that has 3 blown disc's he was not supposed to walk again and it turns out he hasn't regained any of his nerve tissue he has just taught himself to walk all over again he has an amazing will to live and is just the light of my life

Missy in her Slee-Pee Bed for incontinence.

wpe6.jpg (19396 bytes)Eddie was abandoned by his mom a couple of days after he was born with a congenital birth defect (no right eye and no right nostril). He is also blind in his left eye due to an opacity. We hand raised him from 3 or 4 days of age and he is doing just wonderfully. He is 11 weeks old now and has developed into quite the inspiration for us both. Your website and the people I've met on here have helped us get through the initial toughness of hand raising and orphan as well as dealing with his special needs as a handicapped pet. Thank you for that.
Weaver is a spunky cat that was born with various birth defects and cannot use her rear legs or go to the bathroom on her own.  She is almost two years old and is head of the house.  She is extremely active and loves to play ball.  She is my inspiration.

Legume was incontinent secondary to a spinal break just above his tail.

Despite this he was a happy, bouncy, fun loving kitten. Please go to

bendy's website to learn more about him!

Kissy is ten years old and lives in Norway. Two summers ago, she began to limp and it steadily got worse, until her front leg was useless. The only

option was to amputate, so we travelled to a Neurology spesialist in England, where Kissys leg was amputated at the Queen Mother Hospital, which

is part of the Royal Veterinary College. Her leg was amputated just over a year ago, the diagnosis being a brachial plexus tumour - a tumour in the

nerves in her left shoulder. She is equally active with just three legs and manages to run and jump as she used to when she had four legs. She is a very

good example that handicapped dogs can have a very good quality of life. I feel honoured and priveliged to have her.

Thank you for providing the message board on your website. It's a great resource for me regarding my special needs Sheba (cat). And, gives me the opportunity to give back to others the knowledge I've accumulated. A while back you were looking for pics of handicapped pets for your site - I finally got a digital camera and thought you might want to consider Sheba's picture

I am the owner of a handicapped pet. She is very tiny, only 2 pounds. She was picked up and dropped by a bird of prey. she had a compression fracture of her spine. She is walking, however, she has been having trouble with her legs folding up on her. She goes to the bathroom by herself, and is doing good. I think she will need a cart as she gets older. but she needs a very light weight, and small one. She is tiny. She is part Yorkshire terrier. my new email address is not this one, It is berdlady2@charter.net .  Thanks, Lisa
Ellie`s pic is already in the gallery but

Hi,
This is Tarzan, our 4 month old English Mastiff. He was born with a unformed leg. He gets around fine, and can run with the best of them. He is the love of our life.

frame.jpg (58834 bytes)I'm submitting a pic of two of our handicapped pets.  The white cat is "Smudge", he was abused and sodomized by someone with an object.  He's had extensive colon surgery to save his life and now "dribbles" everywhere.  The little puppy is "Nichole",, she was bitten in the head by her daddy-dog and suffered brain damage.  She is now blind in one eye, but she seems fine in all other respects.  They are living here, at the ThunderWolf Animal Sanctuary.

Often, it is helpful to refer to a picture in an email or on a message board, rather than send the whole picture. It saves time and space. Here's how.

1 - Find the name of the picture by holding the mouse over it, and looking in the lower right hand corner of the screen (The Status Bar) or right-clicking the picture and looking at properties. The name will be something like

http://www.HandicappedPets.com/gallery/roxy.jpg  where roxy.jpg is the individual picture's name.

2 - Include that in your e-mail as a "link to the picture." like this:

Hi! Click here to see my best friend...  http://www.HandicappedPets.com/gallery/roxy.jpg

I'll try to help if you have trouble!
