Healing horses

“Recently an old friend, Julia, called me and said a friend of hers, Laurel, who has many horses, told her about a couple of horses that she and a friend had rescued. These two horses, Coco and Beau, had been nearly starved to death. Someone died who had been breeding horses in a remote area of Topanga Canyon. The horses were forgotten and 5 of them died of starvation but Coco and Beau survived. Julia told Laurel, who rescued the horses, about my energy work with animals and asked if she would like to have me come out and work with them. I was really excited to do this, as I had never worked with horses in person before.

I had worked with many abused and neglected horses by long distance. A horse whisperer had put me in contact with Sherrie Clemons who founded the New Beginnings Equine Shelter in West Virginia. Sherri is an incredibly dedicated person with a huge heart who took in many abused and neglected horses. Sherri reported that my energy work had greatly helped many of the abused horses.

When we arrived at Laurel’s house, she took us out to the stall and arena where she had about 20 horses. She told me about Coco and Beau. Coco and Beau had not moved for days from where they were standing at their new locations. Beau was kept at a friends house but exhibiting the same behavior as Coco. Laurel said that in 20 years of horsemanship that she had never seen horses exhibit this kind of behavior and the horses were not mixing with the other horses.

I started the energy session and I was about 15 feet from Coco. Within about 10 minutes Coco came up to me and put her head very close to mine, I could feel her warm breath. Laurel said that was the first time she had seen Coco move since she rescued her. After the session Coco was moving some around the arena, moving about 100 feet from her original position. Laurel’s friend reported after the session that Beau wanted to get out from where he was kept and ran around the arena for a long time. She said that people had stopped their cars on the side of the road to watch Beau run around.

I did a few more long distance sessions for Coco and now she is acting like a regular horse. She is happily mixing with the other horses and will go anywhere in the arena. Coco now is also exhibiting some interesting behavior.

Julia wrote this to me a couple of days ago regarding Coco. “Laurel is thrilled too at the strange sensations she feels following the healings.  On the horse front, she tells me that Coco is so delighted at her having learned how to let herself out of her own stall, (and having now shown every other horse how to do it too!), and has now found a way to open the door between the paddocks and get out altogether!  She is very pleased with herself, and Laurel has changed her name to Houdini!

All this horse talk does have something to do with emotional healing and humans.
Animals, like humans, have feelings. They may not be exactly like us but they do feel fear, anger and sadness and people who are sensitive to animals know this. Coco and Beau were very traumatized by their experience. Not only were they probably terrified of being starved to death, they also were aware of their fellow horses suffering.

Humans can experience much abuse, trauma and suffering and can shut down on many levels. Some of our trauma and abuse comes at a very early age. This early trauma is sometimes difficult to access and process out of the energy system. Some babies can experience a lot of difficulty and trauma from the birth experience and can develop beliefs and ideas that life is difficult, not safe and not very loving. These childhood experiences can color our perception for the rest of our lives and we then may view the rest of our life through this filter of perception. It’s like we can’t even see the good things that may come our way.”
